Over 20 Olympic champions, coaches and other global sports figures have endorsed a letter demanding a halt to the capital punishment of a boxing titleholder and trainer, who is sentenced to die in the nation.

Escalating Worldwide Condemnation

Amid growing worldwide anger over the nation's increasing application of executions as a means of oppression, the forcefully phrased statement censures the authorities's verdict to confirm the execution order of the athlete.

The athlete, three decades old, from Mashhad in the northern province, was arrested for taking part in countrywide demonstrations in the year 2019 and charged of supporting an resistance movement. He has passed half a decade in prison, where he has been mistreated and kept in isolation.
